Dr Emma Selby, CPsychol
DPsych Counselling Psychology
Glasgow, Scotland

My professional training is in Process-experiential/Person-centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy. Post-qualification, I have completed additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Disordered Eating (CBT-E) and am currently training in Intensive Short-term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). Qualifying in 2013, I have worked both in the NHS and in private healthcare and have particular interest in disordered eating and trauma.

Recognising that each of us is unique, I view therapy as a highly individualised process that aims to help us better understand how our own internal world may be impacting our external problems. The difficulties we experience in life can be highly impactful on how we see ourselves, how we relate to ourselves/others and on our own wellbeing. We can become stuck in unhelpful patterns of behaviour, trapped in our own internal conflict and afraid of/detached from our own emotion. Focus is placed on gaining a compassionate understanding of why our lives are as they are and on processing any blocked emotion that is preventing change.
